Keywords:

This study explores the representation of environmental conservation in the Urdu novel, highlighting the evolving ecological consciousness within modern Urdu fiction. As the world faces severe environmental crises climate change, deforestation, water scarcity, and pollution Urdu novelists have increasingly reflected these concerns in their creative narratives. The research investigates how the Urdu novel serves as a literary response to the ecological degradation of the modern age, blending aesthetic imagination with ethical and environmental awareness. Through the lens of ecocriticism, this paper examines how writers such as Mustansar Hussain Tarar, Amna Mufti and khalid javed reimagine the relationship between human beings and nature. Their novels portray rivers, deserts, forests, and seasons not merely as scenic elements but as living entities that carry moral, cultural, and spiritual meanings. The destruction of nature in these works mirrors the disintegration of human values and social harmony, suggesting that the survival of humanity is inseparable from the preservation of the environment. Ultimately, this paper argues that the Urdu novel acts as a mirror of ecological thought, resonating with the global discourse on sustainability and environmental ethics. It emphasizes that environmental preservation in Urdu fiction is not confined to a theme but emerges as a moral and aesthetic philosophy an echo of humanity’s deep connection with nature and its responsibility toward the planet.
