The Depiction of Urban Life in the Urdu Novelette

Abstract

The novel, short story, and novelette are all diverse forms of storytelling in which various conditions, behaviors, and states of human life and society are artistically presented with creative awareness. Urdu novelette writers have portrayed the issues and themes of urban life with artistic skill. In cities, where modern facilities for health and education are abundant, employment opportunities are greater, and entertainment and comforts are readily available, the population, environmental pollution, and crime rates are also higher. The outward face of cities appears bright, yet the inner darkness occasionally reveals itself. Urdu novelette writers have examined the different dimensions, forms, and conditions of urban life on both artistic and intellectual levels and have presented them through characters in the form of stories. This research paper focuses on the portrayal of urban life in the Urdu novelette.
