Abstract

"Maulana Zafar Ali Khan was a prominent, journalist  and poet of Sub-Continent. He used his newspaper “Zamindar” for mobilizing native people against British Raj. His poetry based on resistance played pivotal role in independence movement. In his poems, he criticized the colonial power regarding its every action which was causing country’s interests. As poet, Zafar Ali highlighted the points which could be harmful for the people of Hindustan. He always did his best for human rights, women empowerment and economic oppurtunities for common man. His poetry kept the Hindu-Muslim united for struggle of independence. His anti-colonial sentiment presented through his poems, resulted into closeness of newspaper and imprisonment of himself but he carried on exposing ruling power. His powerful voice of poetry gave courage to common people for got freedomfrom foreign invader. He did not hesitate to criticize thelocal politician and others who were supporter of Britishers.This article highlighted the salient features of his poetry."
