Stylistics is the study of style in language, which encompasses various aspects such as: (1). Lexical choices: word selection and vocabulary.(2). Syntax: sentence structure and organization. (3). Tone: Attitude or emotional tone conveyed through language. (4). Figurative language: Use of Metaphors, similes, and other literary devices.(5). Rhythm and sound: Patterns of sound rhythm, and meter. The main subject of stylistics is the study of language used in literature and poetry. Stylistics analyzes that how language is used in different contexts, such as: Literary text, Everyday conversation, Advertising, and academic writing. By analyzing language style stylistics helps us to understand: (1) Authorial intent (2) Reader/audience engagement, and (3) cultural context.Stylistics is an interdisciplinary field that draws from linguistics, literature and communication studies. Muhammad Quli Qutab Shah is a sixteenth century Urdu poet. His language is almost five hundred years old and is called Dakani Urdu. This is the old form of Urdu which comprises many words and phrases of modern Indo Arian dialects. Like all other poets Muhammad Quli also used the language in his poetry in a creative manner. The stylistic features in his language arise from the usage of foregrounding, deviation from the linguistic norms, grammatical selection, phonetical selection and morphological selection. This creative use of language in his poetry is not only in accordance with the smooth communication of his ideas but also suit the rhythm of his poetry. In this article some of these stylistic features are discussed.
